“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
2 Corinthians 9:7
We have had so many examples of cheerful giving in 2023.
From Reverend Matt Gallinger, we have been given sermons rich in context and spirituality three times a month complemented by the lay worship leadership of Andrew Nichols and Jessica Knoyles. From Carol Gurofsky, we have been given the masterful playing of the organ and piano, and from Alan Sandeman we were given his musical contribution to our Remembrance Sunday. From Agnes Malkinson, our office administrator, we have been given a much improved web site in addition to the attractively designed weekly e-newsletters. From Bruce Spinney we have been given proactive attention to repairs and maintenance as well as renovations to the church office. From our cleaner, Chantal Dumoulin, we have been given the assurance of a safe and well kept sanctuary in addition to the much appreciated work setting up for our Morgan Hall events. And from the Church Council and the church volunteers we have been given their time and talents in support of their various ministries.
So, as 2023 draws to an end, we welcome one more form of cheerful giving: the Red Stocking and Red Sock Appeal.
This year as with last, we are hoping you will consider not only donating to support the activities of the church, but also contributing either pairs of warm, outdoor men’s or women’s socks (new) or a separate financial contribution earmarked “Socks” which will be used towards their purchase. Donated socks and/or financial contributions will be collected each Sunday of Advent and into the first two weeks of January before being given to local organizations that support Ottawa’s homeless.
Contributions to the Red Stocking and Red Sock Appeal may be made online at www.cmuc.ca/donate or by cheque to:
